On March 6th – 8th, Casa Jasmina had the pleasure to host the Design by Components Exhibition, born from our collaboration with Politecnico di Torino.

Twelve teams of students of the Design by Components 2017-2018 Course were asked to develop projects to improve Casa Jasmina and its inhabitants’ experience in the house.
Many crucial themes and necessities were addressed in the developement process, among which:

  • the need of a navigation system for the house
  • the sorting and recycling process
  • reduction of water waste
  • quality of the air
  • making the guests’ experience more comfortable/fun/interactive…

Some of the projects addressed these issues in a very practical way, aiming for functionality and the smartest solution. Others had a somewhat playful component to them, enhacing the user’s experience and the interactive aspect.

The result was the most varied and creative assortment of projects – you can find a list and presentation of each here.
The projects were then prototyped, displayed and put to test during the exhibit.

The big night of the Opening Party was on the 6th of March. Prof. Fabrizio Valpreda (Politecnico di Torino), Fabrizio Alessio (maker of Fablab Torino and creator of TooWheels),  Davide Gomba (CEO of Officine Innesto) and the students were present to introduce and sum up the good work done together over the span of the last three months.
For us at Casa Jasmina it’s always exciting to see the house packed full with projects and people!

It was a really pleasant, calm and designful moment of connection between people AROUND open projects INSIDE one of them! Thanks to all the people involved!

said Prof. Valpreda.

What will happen next? Our collaboration with Politecnico certainly isn’t over. You’ll just have to wait and see…
